Local Skills Improvement Plans 2025 Progress Reports Released
Business West Chambers of Commerce has released its Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) Progress Reports for 2025.
As the dedicated Employer Representative Body (ERB) for the West of England & North Somerset, Swindon & Wiltshire and Gloucestershire LSIPs, we have produced a report for each local area highlighting the priority needs of the specific sectors we have researched and what projects and initiatives are in progress or have been completed to meet those needs.
The reports also include:
- How the local areas have changed and developed
- Where funding and investment has been used
- Initiatives in progress to bridge these gaps
- Our teams' activities - past, present and future
- How we have and continue to stay engaged with our stakeholders
Matt Tudge, Head of Skills at Business West commented:
“The Progress Reports are reflective of the positive advancements we have been making in creating a skilled and resilient workforce. We see them as a crucial resource and point of feedback between employers, local and national government and education providers. The information from these reports provides key intel for governing bodies like Skills England – who we are pleased to work more with going forward.”

Skills Minister Jacqui Smith says:
“I am pleased to see the progress being made to bring these Local Skills Improvement Plans to life.
We remain committed to the LSIP model as part of our Plan for Change, and have strengthened the role that Mayors and Strategic Authorities will play in identifying and addressing the local skills issues in the plans.
Skills England will work hand-in-hand with businesses, education providers, Mayors and Strategic Authorities, unions, and other bodies to tackle skills shortages, co- creating solutions to ensure more opportunities for young people and existing workers wherever they are based in the country.”
